YMCA RAGGER
BIRTHPLACE CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION
Celebration Event: Sunday, October 12, 2014
Come the day or come for the weekend! (It's Columbus Day weekend) Oct. 10-13, 2014
"The summer of 1995 is where life really changed, because that's when I became a Ragger. I can honestly say I don't know who I would be if it weren't for the Rag Program."- Sabrina Rodriguez, past YMCA Camp Loma Mar camper and 2 time Emmy award winning news reporter/anchor
Sentiments like these are echoed at Y camps and beyond, around the world. The number of people who credit the Rag program for helping build them into the person they are today is too vasts to count. Started in 1914 by Thomas "King" Caldwell, the Program Director who ran the Camp Loma Mar program for the Oakland YMCA, the Rag program began as a way to symbolize positive character traits exemplified by campers. Today, the program has expanded to camps around the world and focuses on goal setting and personal growth.
In 2014, we will celebrate the Centennial of this program that has touched so many lives. Special Rag Program trainings will be held across the country in the spring and camps across the country will celebrate all summer long. We are excited to host a fall celebration at the place where it all began - YMCA Camp Loma Mar!
We hope you'll join us for this historic event! Everyone is welcome!
Registration will open very soon!
